Gunfire Halts APC Primary In Ondo
Gunshots disrupted the All Progressives Congress senatorial primary in Ondo State on Monday, causing panic during the exercise in Ondo State.
The incident occurred at Ward 5, Ebenezer African Church Primary School in Akure.
The election was underway when sudden gunfire broke out around Amudipe Street, forcing delegates, journalists and residents to run for safety.
The situation created confusion as the voting process was interrupted.
Eyewitnesses said the shots led to a quick suspension of activities at the venue as security concerns grew.
Party officials and voters left the area to avoid possible harm while security personnel moved in to restore order.
The disruption adds to growing concerns over violence during political party primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections, where internal party contests have become increasingly tense.
