Alausa attributed the decline to improvements in the local education system and renewed confidence in Nigerian universities.

He noted that government reforms and ongoing investments in tertiary institutions are helping to retain more students within the country.

He added that efforts are being made to expand access to quality education and improve learning conditions across federal and state institutions.

According to him, these changes are gradually reducing the pressure on students seeking admission outside Nigeria.

The minister maintained that the trend shows growing trust in the country’s education sector, with more students now considering local options over foreign study destinations.
