Wike Criticizes Makinde, Turaki And Others

Nyesom Wike has criticised a group within the Peoples Democratic Party, accusing leaders like Seyi Makinde and Taminu Turaki of ignoring court rulings in the party’s leadership dispute.

He spoke during a media chat in Abuja on Wednesday.
He rejected claims of any interim leadership, describing the arrangement as unlawful and misleading.

“When will people stop being fraudulent? You cannot disobey court judgments and then turn around to deceive Nigerians that you have a legitimate structure.

That is not how democracy works,” he said.

The minister insisted that only a court-backed leadership can run the party, warning against parallel structures. “You don’t form a leadership in your bedroom and call it a national structure.

Let them open an office anywhere and call it PDP secretariat I dare them. That is how you know what is real and what is not,” he added.

He said attempts to create a caretaker setup go against existing court decisions and mislead party members.

“The court has made it clear who should run the affairs of the party pending a lawful convention. You cannot ignore that and start setting up another structure.

That is fraud 419,” he said, while also accusing some political figures of weakening institutions for personal interest.
