Ejimakor said politicians in the region seeking office in 2027 risk losing support if Kanu is not released soon.

He also extended the warning to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, suggesting the issue could shape voter decisions across the South-East.

His comments come amid rising tension over Kanu’s imprisonment, which continues to draw reactions from supporters and political actors.

The issue remains sensitive in the region, where calls for his release have persisted.

Kanu has been in custody since 2021 and was later sentenced to life imprisonment on terrorism-related charges.

While agitation for his freedom continues, authorities maintain their stance, even as insecurity and unrest remain concerns in parts of the South-East.
