The administration of Governor Alex Otti has dismissed the union’s position, saying the issue is not non-payment but disagreement over salary structure.

Officials argue that what workers describe as leave allowance is already included in their consolidated pay package.

The state Attorney-General, Ikechukwu Uwanna, said the payments in question are part of a system that bundles benefits into one salary structure.

He explained that similar arrangements exist at the federal level, where separate leave allowance payments are not made under consolidated schemes.

The government says it is open to further discussions if the union can provide clear evidence supporting its claims.

Until then, the disagreement continues to stall judicial services, leaving courts in Abia largely inactive.
