The demonstration took place in Maitama amid rising tension over the commission’s handling of party leadership issues.

The protest was driven by concerns over INEC’s decision to remove David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from the party’s leadership list.

Opposition figures argued that the move could weaken internal party structures and affect democratic balance ahead of future elections.

Other political figures, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, were also linked to the demonstration.

The protest was organised to challenge what participants described as bias and to push for fairness in electoral processes.

INEC had earlier explained that its action followed a court directive requiring all parties to maintain the existing situation until the legal dispute is resolved.

The development has stirred wider political reactions, with growing debate over the role of institutions and the state of democracy in the country.
