Party figures in the state say the pause is due to ongoing consultations, with the governor taking time to decide his next step.

The delay comes after weeks of unrest within the PDP, marked by leadership disputes and court decisions that reshaped the party’s structure.

Although there were earlier signs he might leave, the governor has held back, choosing to assess the situation more carefully.

A committee has now been formed to study the political scene and advise on whether to stay in the PDP or move elsewhere.

The group is also expected to suggest a new platform if a switch is approved, but its report is yet to be released.

State PDP leaders say the party remains intact for now, stressing that no official defection has occurred. The final decision is likely to influence the state’s political direction as alliances begin to shift ahead of 2027.
