Security Tight At INEC HQ Over Planned Protest
Security was strengthened at the Independent National Electoral Commission headquarters in Abuja on Thursday after reports of a planned protest over the African Democratic Congress leadership dispute.
Armed personnel blocked key access points to the commission, limiting movement in and out of the premises.
The measures aimed to prevent clashes and maintain order amid rising tensions.
The deployment included officers from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Immigration Service, Department of State Services, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
Officials said the heightened security was a precaution as stakeholders await developments in the ADC leadership crisis and to ensure peaceful conduct of any planned demonstrations.
