Court Fines EFCC Over Emefiele Trial Delay
A High Court in Abuja has fined the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ₦500,000 over delays in the trial of former Central Bank Governor Godwin Ifeanyi Emefiele.
The court ruled that the prosecution had not shown sufficient diligence in proceeding with the case, which involves alleged fraud of $6.23 million.
The fine is seen as a warning to ensure timely prosecution and avoid unnecessary delays in high-profile cases.
The trial is expected to continue as the court pushes for faster proceedings.
