Appeal Court Ruling Shakes PDP South-West
The Court of Appeal has upheld an earlier judgement that nullified the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-West zonal congress held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
In its ruling, the appellate court affirmed that the convention which produced the faction led by Chief Eddy Olafeso lacked legal backing and therefore could not stand.
The court consequently invalidated the leadership structure associated with the Turaki faction, reinforcing the earlier decision that the process which produced the group was not conducted in accordance with party guidelines.
The judgement is expected to further shape the leadership structure of the PDP in the South-West as party members react to the ruling and consider the next steps for resolving internal disputes.
