The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Joshua Ishaku of the All Progressives Congress as Chairman-elect of Bwari Area Council following Saturday’s Federal Capital Territory elections.

Ishaku polled the highest number of votes in the tightly fought contest, emerging ahead of other candidates in the race.

The announcement came as results were finalised in the council.

The elections were held across the six Area Councils in the FCT, with residents voting for new chairmen and councillors. In Gwagwalada, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate was earlier returned as winner.

Collation of results in other parts of the territory continued as electoral officials concluded the process, marking another step in the FCT’s local governance cycle.
