In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor thanked the outgoing cabinet members for their service and wished them well.

No reason was officially given for the sweeping move.

The decision comes days after President Bola Tinubu intervened in the prolonged political crisis in Rivers, brokering peace between Fubara and the state House of Assembly following months of tension, impeachment threats and deep divisions within the legislature.

Most members of the assembly are allies of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Wike had publicly opposed Fubara’s political moves and previously outlined conditions for reconciliation, including key appointments and leadership changes within the state’s traditional institutions.

Observers say the cabinet dissolution may signal a political reset as efforts continue to stabilise governance in the oil rich state.
