The comment came from the party’s national leadership amid growing speculation over possible realignments.

APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, spoke on the issue during a television interview on Sunday, where he said the party had not opened talks with Kwankwaso but would not shut its doors if he decided to make a move.

“Our doors are still open for Kwankwaso to join the APC. If he comes, he’s most welcome. Though we are not yet in negotiation with him,” he said.

Yilwatda also used the moment to address criticism surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s foreign travels, describing them as necessary and beneficial to the country.

According to him, the President’s global exposure allows him to secure results quickly. “Because of his experience, exposure and connections, what he can connect in one day will take most of us years to gain and achieve,” he said.

He added that the trips were driven by national interest, including investment drives, security discussions and bilateral engagements, urging Nigerians to view them as sacrifices rather than excesses.

“For this man to sacrifice for this country, to move around, attract investment, work on security and negotiate bilateral agreements, should we take that for granted?” he asked.
