Anthony Joshua Message After Fatal Accident

British Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua has spoken publicly for the first time after a fatal road crash that claimed the lives of two of his close friends in December 2025.

The former heavyweight champion shared his thoughts in a video posted on his official Instagram page on Thursday.

The accident happened on December 29, 2025, along the Lagos Ibadan Expressway.

Joshua was travelling with his friends, Latif Ayodele, also known as Latz, and Gami Sina, when the crash occurred. Both men died at the scene, while Joshua was injured and later treated in hospital.

In the emotional video, Joshua described the men as family and reflected on how sudden the tragedy was.

“So this is the best way I could reach out to all of you, far and wide, worldwide, who were showing so much love, care, support through that tragic, traumatic time where we lost Latz and Sina in Nigeria,” he said.

Joshua said the loss has deeply affected both him and the families of the deceased.

He added, “It ain’t about legacy. It’s just doing what’s right, and I know what I’m going to do — what’s right for them and what’s right for their family.”

He named medical staff at a hospital in Ikoyi for their care and thanked officials, business leaders, and government figures for their support.

The crash is still the subject of legal proceedings.

The driver, Adeniyi Kayode, has appeared before a magistrate’s court in Sagamu, Ogun State, with the case adjourned until February 25.

Joshua’s uncle has reportedly said the boxer would not want the driver to be jailed over the incident.
