Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State have pledged to follow the political direction of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike as preparations for the 2027 elections gather pace.

The declaration was made on Sunday during Wike’s visit to the area, where APC chairman in the council, Rejoice Otobo, said party members were united and ready to act based on whatever guidance Wike gives concerning Rivers politics.
Otobo said the people of the area remain grateful for Wike’s impact and insisted that loyalty to him cuts across party lines, adding that the local government would stand by his decisions in the coming elections.

The same position was echoed by the Peoples Democratic Party leadership in the area, with PDP chairman Ikechukwu Obuzor saying Wike had restored confidence among residents and assuring that Ahoada West would stand firmly with him in 2027.
Local government chairman Chita Eugene and House of Representatives member Victor Obuzor also praised Wike’s record in Rivers State, describing his leadership as firm and rewarding, while a Seyi Tinubu support group reaffirmed backing for both Wike and President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid.

Responding, Wike said his visit was to thank the people for their support during the 2023 elections, adding that Rivers State must correct past leadership errors to regain its standing, insisting that Governor Siminalayi Fubara should not return for a second term as the state looks ahead to 2027.
