The Federal Capital Territory Administration has revoked 1,095 properties in Abuja after owners failed to settle ground rent, land use charges or Certificate of Occupancy fees.

The decision, approved by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, followed a 14-day grace period that ended on November 25.

The statement from the FCTA Land Administration Department said the enforcement move began after repeated public notices across newspapers, online platforms and television. Officials explained that many of the affected owners ignored multiple reminders to clear their financial obligations.

The revoked list contains 835 ground rent defaulters and 260 land use contravention defaulters. Each entry includes the file number, plot number, district, CAD zone, rent owed and revocation date.
The properties involve federal and state agencies, private companies and well-known individuals. Those affected include former governors, former ministers, traditional rulers, former senior military officers and business leaders. Institutions such as the Central Bank of Nigeria, NNPC, Nigeria Police, Navy and several commercial banks also appear on the list.
The FCTA said the revocation was carried out in line with Section 28(5a and 5b) of the Land Use Act, which allows the government to withdraw occupancy rights when owners fail to meet the terms of their land allocation.
