Presidential aide Daniel Bwala has dismissed fears that U.S. President Donald Trump will impose sanctions on Nigeria following his recent warning over alleged killings of Christians in the country.

Bwala, who serves as Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communication, made the comment during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time.

Trump had earlier threatened possible military action and announced Nigeria’s designation as a “Country of Particular Concern” over alleged religious persecution.

Responding, Bwala said any sanctions would hurt ordinary Nigerians, not the government. He described Trump as someone who often makes strong statements but quickly moves on.
“If sanctions are imposed, it is the people who will suffer. Trump doesn’t hold grudges; he says what he wants, and afterward, things return to normal,” Bwala said.
He added that the Nigerian government has taken note of Trump’s warning and is working to address the concerns raised. “We will begin to see results soon,” he assured.
