FG Reaffirms Religious Tolerance After Trump’s Comment

The Federal Government has restated its commitment to religious freedom and peaceful coexistence following recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump on the state of religious tolerance in Nigeria.

In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, said the government remains focused on combating violent extremism and ensuring the safety of all citizens, regardless of faith or ethnicity.

He said Nigeria continues to mourn victims of extremist violence and supports ongoing military efforts to restore peace nationwide.

Ebienfa added that Nigeria, like the United States, celebrates its diversity, which he described as the nation’s greatest strength.

He reaffirmed the strong ties between both countries, expressing optimism that Nigeria and the U.S. would continue to cooperate in advancing peace, democracy, and global stability.

“The Federal Government will continue to defend all citizens irrespective of religion or creed. Nigeria remains a God-fearing country built on faith, tolerance, and inclusion,” the statement said.
