The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Kano State chapter, has commended Governor Abba Yusuf for renovating more than 200 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state and upgrading some to general hospitals.
In a statement marking the 2025 Physicians Week, NMA Chairman Dr. AbdulRahman Ali said the move would strengthen the healthcare system and improve the welfare of medical workers.
Ali noted that the upgrades would motivate health personnel to deliver better services and urged the state government to continue supporting a well-trained and well-compensated workforce.
He also called for closer collaboration between the government and private partners to advance healthcare delivery in the state.
Ali assured that NMA members would continue to back government policies aimed at improving public health.
This year’s Physicians Week, themed “Healthcare as a Value Chain: Building Efficiency from Policy to Patient,” features lectures, hospital visits, and free medical outreach programs across Kano.
