The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will hold a mock accreditation exercise in Anambra State on October 25 to test the performance of its upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) before the November governorship election.

According to a statement from the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, the exercise will take place across selected polling units in the three senatorial districts of the state. The test is expected to help the commission assess the speed, reliability, and effectiveness of the BVAS and its ability to transmit results seamlessly to the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal.

INEC said the mock accreditation is part of efforts to fine-tune its technology and logistics ahead of the polls. Polling units in Awka South, Idemili North, Oyi, Anambra East, Aguata, and Orumba North local government areas have been chosen for the exercise.

The commission urged voters in the selected areas to participate fully, explaining that their involvement would help improve the accuracy and readiness of the system on election day.
INEC also announced that the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for newly registered voters will begin on October 22 and end on October 26. Registered voters are to collect their cards from the registration areas where they initially registered, as collection by proxy will not be allowed.
The commission reiterated its commitment to transparency and efficiency, assuring Nigerians that every measure is being taken to ensure a credible and smooth governorship election in Anambra.
