Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, representing Ebonyi North and serving as Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, has dismissed claims that the Federal Government filed a case against him for allegedly using offensive language against Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

In a statement released by his media aide, Romanus Uzor, the senator said the publication was the work of political opportunists bent on misleading the public. He stated that there is no case instituted against him by the Federal Government in any court, calling the allegation a fabrication meant to tarnish his image.

According to Nwebonyi, it would be legally illogical for the Federal Government to take him to court over the same issue when a defamation case involving Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and the government is already pending. He explained that the report was created to stir confusion and paint him in a negative light before the public.
The lawmaker described the online report as a smear campaign by political rivals and individuals seeking attention through falsehood. He urged the public to disregard the claims, insisting that he has no pending legal issue with the Federal Government.
Nwebonyi reaffirmed his commitment to his legislative duties and the development of his constituency. He said he remains focused on serving the people of Ebonyi North and contributing to national progress, rather than being distracted by what he called politically driven false reports.
