NABTEB Records 68 Percent Credit Pass In English And Maths For 2025 Exams

The National Business and Technical Examinations Board has released the results of the 2025 June/July National Business Certificate and National Technical Certificate examinations, showing an improvement in overall performance compared to last year.

Out of 92,875 candidates who registered across 1,892 centres, 61,104 representing 68.18 percent secured five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics. The result reflects an increase from 65.34 percent recorded in 2024.

A total of 89,621 candidates were eventually graded, made up of 57,651 males and 35,224 females. Analysis of subject performance shows that 93.10 percent of candidates passed English Language, slightly lower than the 95.87 percent recorded last year. In Mathematics, 94.60 percent passed, improving on the 91.39 percent achieved in 2024.

The Board also reported a drop in examination malpractice cases, with 435 candidates involved in 516 incidents, down from 349 candidates and 524 cases in 2024. Officials credited the decline to stricter monitoring and enforcement.

Enrolment for the 2025 examinations grew by over 37 percent compared to 2024, with candidates sitting for 16 engineering trades, seven construction trades, nine miscellaneous trades, four business trades, and 16 general education subjects.

The Registrar of NABTEB, Dr. Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, noted that the examinations were conducted smoothly nationwide and linked the improved outcomes to new Technical and Vocational Education and Training programmes rolled out earlier in the year under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He announced that registration has opened for the November/December NBC/NTC and Advanced NBC/NTC examinations, urging interested candidates to apply online or through NABTEB state and zonal offices.

The 2025 results are expected to boost confidence in vocational and technical education as the country pushes for skilled manpower development to address industry needs.
