An Ogun State High Court in Sagamu has ordered Governor Dapo Abiodun, alongside Industrial Platform Remo Limited and Arise Integrated Industrial Platform, to stop any further move to take possession of community land in Ilara Remo.

The order, issued by Justice O.S. Oloyede on Monday, followed an ex parte application filed by community leaders and representatives who claimed ownership of the land. They asked the court to prevent the defendants from encroaching on about 15,309 acres situated in Remo North Local Government Area.

The claimants, led by Chief Samuel Olukoya Sodunola, Chief Babatunde Ogunfeso, Chief Ayedun Akintoye, Mrs. Remilekun Ogunfuwa, and 19 others, told the court that they are the rightful owners of the land as detailed in a 1998 survey plan. They accused the defendants of erecting structures and secretly transferring parts of the land to third parties despite the ongoing legal case.

Counsel to the claimants, Dr. Olumide Ayeni (SAN), argued that allowing the construction and alienation to continue would cause irreversible damage to the community. He said no amount of compensation could remedy the harm if the court eventually ruled in favor of the landowners.
The court agreed that the application had merit and granted an interim injunction. The ruling restrains the governor, his agents, and the companies involved from further trespass until the motion for interlocutory injunction is heard.
Justice Oloyede adjourned the matter to September 1 for further proceedings.
