Presidency Predicts Surge in South East Votes For Tinubu In 2027

The Presidency has projected that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure a major boost in support from the South East during the 2027 presidential election, estimating he could win as many as two million votes in the region.

Presidential Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, said in a television interview that the figure would represent four to six times the votes Tinubu received in the zone during the last election. He attributed the optimism to growing political alignment and shifting loyalties among regional leaders.

Bwala also pointed to changes in the South-South, noting that most governors in the region, regardless of their political parties, are now backing the President. He cited instances where opposition governors openly expressed support for Tinubu despite retaining their party membership.

In the North-West, Bwala said governors have not only endorsed Tinubu’s policies but also pledged their political structures to his re-election bid. According to him, the influence of these governors in mobilising grassroots support gives the President a strong advantage ahead of the polls.

The Presidency believes that the combination of wider regional acceptance, political alliances across party lines, and the incumbent’s record in office will translate into stronger numbers for Tinubu in 2027.
