Kunle Adegoke, a senior lawyer and prominent member of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, has announced his intention to contest the 2026 governorship election.
The declaration took place on Monday at the party’s state secretariat in Osogbo, where he shared his plans for the state if elected.
Adegoke said his aspiration is driven by a commitment to serve with dedication and to contribute to making Osun a model of progress. He explained that his decision was motivated by the need for a government that is proactive, visionary, and capable of creating opportunities for the people beyond reliance on federal funds.
He stated that he would seek the support of party members and residents to make his vision a reality. According to him, his administration would focus on creating an Osun where young people have access to jobs, children can aspire to a better future, and the elderly can live comfortably.
Adegoke outlined four main areas his government would prioritise if given the mandate. These include economic revival and job creation, agricultural expansion, education and healthcare reform, and infrastructural growth. He noted that the state’s economy would be boosted by attracting investors to sectors such as agriculture, mining, tourism, and industry, alongside support for small and medium-sized enterprises through loans and grants.
He pledged to launch an agricultural revolution by reviving farm settlements, promoting modern farming methods, improving seed access, and creating guaranteed markets for farmers. He also promised to develop food processing hubs to increase the value of local produce and ensure food security.
On education and healthcare, Adegoke said his plan would involve improving the welfare of teachers and health workers, modernising schools and hospitals, and ensuring that every citizen has access to quality services in these sectors. He expressed the need to equip institutions with resources to prepare a new generation for leadership and innovation.
His vision for infrastructure includes constructing durable roads, providing clean water, ensuring well-lit streets, and improving public safety. He also intends to use technology to enhance urban planning and transport systems.
Adegoke stressed that security and good governance would be central to his leadership. He promised to work closely with communities and security agencies to maintain peace and to run a transparent, accountable government that directs public resources towards the needs of the people.
