Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has called on the public to assist in locating 300-level Chemistry student Dorcas Oseghale, who has been missing for four days.
Dorcas, with matriculation number CHM/2021/165, was last seen around 8 p.m. on August 6, 2025, when she left her residence at Adesanmi House, Ibadan Road, to buy food near the students’ village along Ede Road. Her roommate later discovered that both of Dorcas’s phone lines were unreachable.
According to the university’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olanrewaju, the security unit began monitoring discussions about her disappearance after a report surfaced on a student social media platform the following afternoon. By 6:10 p.m., students from the Chemistry Department, accompanied by her roommate, officially reported her missing to the campus security unit.
Due to the complexity of the case, the university assigned three security officers to work with the students and relay initial findings to the Nigerian Police for further investigation.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire praised the students for their quick response and urged the Police and other security agencies to step up search efforts. He appealed to anyone with information on Dorcas’s whereabouts to contact the Police or the university’s security unit.
