Makinde Installed as Aare Omoluabi of Akure Kingdom

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and his wife, Tamunominini, were on Friday honoured with traditional titles in Akure as the Aare Omoluabi and Yeye Aare Omoluabi of the Akure Kingdom.

The chieftaincy titles were conferred by the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, during a ceremony marking his 10th anniversary on the throne.

Speaking at the event, Governor Makinde described the honour as deeply personal, recalling his childhood days in Akure and calling himself “a son of the soil.” He said the recognition was a call to service and pledged to support the development of the kingdom.

“This honour is not just symbolic; it is a call to duty. I am proud to be recognised by my people, and I promise to continue contributing to the progress of Akure,” Makinde said.

He announced plans to assist in the completion of the Akure Town Hall and the ongoing modernisation of the Akure Palace.

The governor also praised his mother, Mrs. Victoria Modupe Alo, for being present and for her support, noting her deep ties to the community.

The occasion was attended by dignitaries from Oyo, Ondo, and other parts of the country.
