Ahmad, who served as Buhari’s Special Assistant on Digital Media during his time in office, issued a statement on Thursday to address growing speculation about the 81-year-old’s health. He acknowledged that Buhari is unwell but stressed that the situation is not as dire as some media platforms have reported.

Rumours had swirled online and in some news outlets alleging that Buhari was in a life-threatening condition. However, Ahmad firmly denied these claims, clarifying that although the former president is under medical supervision, he remains stable and is responding positively to treatment.

He urged the public to avoid spreading misinformation that could cause unnecessary alarm. The former aide expressed confidence that Buhari will recover fully and assured supporters that he is being well cared for.

Ahmad also thanked Nigerians and others around the world who have sent messages of support and offered prayers for the former leader’s recovery. He described the widespread goodwill as deeply appreciated by Buhari’s family and associates.

Buhari, who served two terms as Nigeria’s president from 2015 to 2023, has previously faced health challenges during his time in office, which occasionally raised public concern. However, his media team continues to insist on transparency while urging caution over unverified reports.

As of now, no official details have been released about the nature of his current illness, but his team maintains that he is not in any immediate danger.
