The council boss said immediately he assumed office in January, he noticed some lands within the secretariat and Teedeek Polytechnic, Ilogbo-Ekiti could be used by the local government for farming

Omoleye noted the local government will soon organise seminars for the youths on how agriculture can be a source of employment.

“Cassava and maize farming is no doubt one of the most profitable types of farming in Nigeria.

“We planted maize and cassava and we are not relenting as the project is ongoing .

“As a farmer, I will encourage our youths to refrain from being idle and embrace farming,” he said.

Also, in a bid to allow easy access of tourists to the popular hydra-headed palm tree at Ilogbo-Ekiti, the local government recently graded a road to the site.

According to a farmer, the road will also enable farmers whose farms are located around the palm tree to bring their farm produce to the town with ease.
