Tobi Amusan wins Commonwealth gold, sets record as Nigeria wins gold in 4×100 women’s relay

Tobi Amusan, Nigerian sprinter, on Sunday, ran a record 12.30 seconds in 100m hurdles to defend to her Commonwealth gold and set other records in the process.

Amusan also became the first World Champion to win Gold in the event and the first Nigerian athlete ever, dead or alive to be crowned champion at all levels of athletics in the same year.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian quartet of Tobi Amusan, Favour Ofili, Rosemary Chukwuma and Grace Nwokocha ran the race of their lives to clinch another Gold in the 4x100m women’s relay event on Sunday with a time of 42.10s and also setting an African Record.

Earlier, Nigeria’s male quartet won the bronze medal after finishing behind first placed England and Trinidad and Tobago.
