President Mohammadu Buhari’s former Legislative Aide, Senator Ita Enang has again corroborated Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) position that the State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is yet to have a governorship candidate for the 2023 general elections.
It could be recalled that a fortnight ago, the electoral body issued a list of governorship candidates of the APC in respective states of the federation, with ‘TBD’ meaning ‘To Be Decided’ written on Akwa Ibom’s column on the list.
Senator Ita Enang, the immediate past Senior Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, while addressing his people at his Ididep hometown over the weekend said the development is as a result of the unlawful and inordinate declaration of Mr Akanimo Udofia as the flagbearer by the Stephen Ntukekpo led state executive committee of the party.
He confirmed that his legal team are pursing the case in court.
“I want to say that there was no nomination by APC in Akwa Ibom State to choose a gubernatorial candidate, that is why we do not have a gubernatorial candidate yet, and that is why I am in court to ensure that the nomination be cancelled or I be declared the candidate so that I will implement the party’s lofty policies and programmes in the state.”
