The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released former governor of Abia State, Senator Theodore Orji after being detained by operatives of the anti-corruption agency.

The Senator was arrested with son Chinedu over alleged misappropriation of N2billion Ecological Fund and conversion of Sure-P funds while the former governor was in office between 2007 and 2015. They were intercepted at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Thursday August 19.

According to sources familiar with the case, Mr Orji was granted an administrative bail after facing hours of interrogation at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja at about 9 p.m. on Thursday.
