Sources said aides of a certain governor who is among those who are desirous of getting Oshiomhole permanently out of the APC as chairman so as to frustrate the presidential ambition of the party’s National Leader and former Governor of Lagos State,  Senator Bola Tinubu, were among those who made the rumour to go viral.
Though the news was immediately deleted on various social media platforms the moment Ajimobi’s Spokesperson, Bolaji Tunji dispelled the rumour, none of the social media men of the said governor shared the news that he (Ajimobi) was still alive.
“They were very happy and throwing banters until it because clear that Ajimobi was not dead after all.
“They are seeking the political downfall of Tinubu and since Ajimobi is the only person whose position as APC deputy national chairman (South) is being used as the much needed lifeline for the Tinubu’s elements in the party,  news of his death gladdened their heart.
“Look at the way they went about sharing the news of Ajimobi’s death,  but they were unable to give the same attention to the news,  dispelling the death rumour,” a member of APC who sympathetic to Tinubu said.
Ajimobi was on Wednesday,  named Acting Chairman of APC consequent upon the Appeal Court judgment, upholding the suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as the National Chairman.
Due to his ill-health, APC National Vice Chairman (South South),  Hilliard Eta was however appointed act in his place.
However, a new twist was witnessed with the APC Deputy National Secretary,  Chief Victor Giadom, declaring himself as Acting National Chairman on the premise of a court order issued in March this year.
Yesterday,  the order was renewed for a period of 15 days, with the court also declaring APC Vice Chairman for North East,  Comrade Mustapha Salihu, as Acting National Secretary.
