Declare Emergency on Federal Roads in Ekiti, PDP-NNMG tells Fayemi

Ekiti State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party National New Media Group, Ekiti PDP -NNMG, has called on Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi to declare a State of Emergency on roads belonging to the Federal Government within the State saying as a member of Major General Muhammadu Buhari(rtd)’s cabal, Ekiti has no business being the “headquarter of bad federal roads in Nigeria”.

The group which said it will not stop calling out the governor to be alive to his responsibilities said the roads have degenerated to the present horrible condition without attention because Fayemi does not ply them, adding that Mr. Governor was sworn in to govern Ekiti and not junket around.

The group said it is high time Gov. Fayemi is told to use his connection with President Buhari to bring good tidings to the state, as posterity will never forgive him if he fails to macadamize the paths that have become horrible in the State.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday by its state coordinator, Bola Agboola, Ekiti PDP-NNMG said “Fayemi should swallow his pride and travel to Ebonyi State to borrow a leaf from PDP’s Governor, David Umahi ,who carved a niche for himself by constructing cement technology road that would last for more than 50 years.

“Fayemi should not only be seen in states where elections are to be rigged for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), we call on him to come down to Ekiti and address issues that are really affecting the people.

Governor Kayode Fayemi

“Travelling the Igede – Aramoko – Ijero route in Ekiti has become a herculean task for motorists but this does not bother Dr. Fayemi because he doesn’t ply those roads. As stakeholders in the Ekiti project, we’ll not fold our hands and watch”.

According to the group, “a governor who knows his onions would have used his affinity with both Major General Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State to fix Ikere-Iju-Itaogbolu road after more than a year in office. Nobody is asking the governor to use his personal money to attend to these bad roads, all we are asking is that he harness human and capital resources to get these roads fixed”.

Reacting to the latest termination of appointments of about 1,500 State workers at the Ekiti State University(EKSU) and the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital(EKSU), the group urged the affected workers to approach appropriate authorities including the Industrial Court for succour saying “nothing lasts forever”, including tyranny and hijacked power.

Agboola said Ekiti people would continue to remember former governor Ayodele Fayose for his remarkable achievements in the State both in his first and second tenures. He said Fayose constructed many virgin roads in the State and employed more than 4,000 workers. “As much as these laudable feats could not be traced to Dr. Fayemi’s administration, it will be in record that more than 3,000 employed by Fayose was sacked by Fayemi”, the statement read.
