He recently lost his father and wanted to come home to bury him. He is, therefore, challenging the revocation of his bail after he stopped appearing in his trial by the Nigerian government.

Following his reappearance after 13 months, his lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, returned to ask the court to consider the recent account of Mr. Kanu’s trip away from Nigeria and decide whether he acted illegally by avoiding his trial since according to the defense team, his life was under threat.

Since he claimed that his life is under threat, the judge suggested that the prison is the safest place for him. Reacting to this via his Twitter handle, he suggested that Justice Binta and her family can avoid being kidnapped by housing themselves in a prison nearby.

“According to Justice Binta Nyako, “Nigeria is NOT safe for anyone, including judges.” If in her view prison is the safest place to live for Nigerians, I suggest her family move into the nearest one to avoid being abducted. Nigeria is lawless, confirmed!”, he tweeted.
