The newly appointed permanent secretaries are Ahmad S. Zamfara, Nasiru Halilu Anka, Mu’azu Jibril Guraguri, Adamu Abdullahi Kanoma and Sani Muhammad Shinkafi.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lawal said the appointments reflected his administration’s confidence in the officers’ experience, capabilities and readiness to take on greater responsibilities.

He noted that permanent secretaries played vital roles in providing administrative leadership, maintaining institutional continuity, advising on policy implementation and enforcing discipline within the civil service.

The governor said their appointments involved responsibilities beyond personal career advancement, as their decisions and conduct would directly affect government performance and the welfare of residents.

Lawal reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening public institutions and improving governance in support of the state’s development agenda.

He urged the appointees to ensure that government policies and programmes were supported by proper planning, realistic implementation strategies, effective supervision and continuous assessment of results.

The governor also advised them to maintain professional working relationships with commissioners and other political officeholders, stressing the importance of cooperation between political leaders and career civil servants.

He explained that while political officeholders determined policy direction, career civil servants provided institutional knowledge, technical advice and administrative capacity to implement government decisions effectively.

Lawal added that the civil service remained central to translating government policies into practical results, particularly in delivering essential services and implementing reforms to meet the needs and aspirations of Zamfara residents.

He charged the new permanent secretaries to carry out their duties with discipline and professionalism while maintaining a clear understanding of the administration’s priorities.
