The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has alleged that hoodlums attacked his wife, Tawakalitu Alli, and two other party candidates in separate incidents in Ibadan.
Alli raised the alarm in a statement issued on Thursday by the Director of his campaign organisation, Bisi Oladele.
According to the statement, Alli’s wife was allegedly attacked during a programme held at Ibikunle Palace in Ibadan on Wednesday.
The APC candidate also claimed that the party’s Oyo South senatorial candidate, Remi Oseni, and its House of Representatives candidate for Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency, Folake Olunloyo-Oshinlowo, were attacked at different locations in the city.
Alli condemned the reported incidents, describing them as unacceptable, and called for action to prevent political violence in the state.
He said Governor Seyi Makinde, as the state’s chief security officer, had a responsibility to protect residents regardless of their political affiliations.
The campaign organisation urged security agencies to investigate the alleged attacks, identify those responsible and ensure they were brought to justice.
It also called for appropriate measures to deter further violence and protect political actors and residents across Oyo State.
The allegations come amid political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections. No response from the state government or confirmation from security agencies was included in the report.
