Ex-NADECO Founding Member Dies At 80

A founding member of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), Chief Ralph Obioha, has died at the age of 80.

His death was announced by his son, Chima Obioha, on behalf of the family in Enugu. According to the statement, Obioha died on October 3, 2026.

The deceased was described by his family as a devoted father, husband, brother, grandfather and friend who was known for his kindness, generosity, faith and commitment to his family.

Obioha was also remembered as a patriot, elder statesman, political leader and businessman who was active in Nigeria’s political and socio-economic affairs.

The family said his career covered several areas of business and public life, while he remained committed to the country’s development and the ideals of service, leadership and nation-building.

He was also described as a respected voice who believed strongly in Nigeria’s potential and contributed to public affairs over the course of his life.

The family said his death had created a deep loss but expressed consolation in the life he lived, the people he influenced and the legacy he left behind.

The Obioha family thanked Nigerians and others who had sent prayers, condolences and messages of support following his death.

The family also requested privacy as it mourned the deceased and said details of his memorial and funeral arrangements would be announced later.
