Ademola, also known as Lucky, said his decision to leave the PDP followed his assessment of the political situation in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 elections. He said he had reviewed the available political options and concluded that remaining outside the APC would make his electoral ambitions more difficult.

He said he and his supporters had decided to formally align with the APC and pledged to contribute to the party’s activities and its campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.

Ojo, who had been seeking the Accord ticket for Ibadan North-East State Constituency 2, also announced his defection, saying his political efforts within the party had not produced the expected results.

He said those involved had initially hoped to develop Accord into a credible alternative political platform in Oyo State but later concluded that the APC had established a stronger political structure.

According to Ojo, the decision to move to the APC followed their assessment that continuing with Accord would require further expenditure of time and resources without achieving their desired political objectives.

The new members were received by the Oyo State APC Chairman, Chief Moses Alake-Adeyemo, who assured the defectors that they would be given equal opportunities within the party.

Alake-Adeyemo urged them to integrate into the party and work with existing members to strengthen its structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The APC governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, also welcomed the defectors and said an administration led by him would provide room for people from different backgrounds to participate in governance if the party wins the 2027 governorship election.

Alli described the movement of the politicians and their supporters into the APC as an indication of growing interest in the party ahead of the election. He urged party members to begin preparations for the 2027 polls.

The event was attended by the APC deputy governorship candidate, Adesoji Adedeji, the party’s Oyo South Senatorial candidate, Aderemi Oseni, and other party leaders.
