The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA) has issued a fresh warning to motorists following the collapse of a section of the Bauchi-Damaturu-Maiduguri federal highway.

The agency disclosed in a statement on Monday that a large portion of the road had been washed away near the Darazo exit, making the route impassable.

Images from the area showed the highway split into two, with floodwater flowing beneath the damaged section and preventing motorists from continuing their journeys.
According to YOSEMA, the road had been cut off as of Sunday, September 27, 2026, following the damage caused by flooding.

The agency advised motorists travelling along the Bauchi-Yobe-Maiduguri corridor to exercise extreme caution and avoid the affected route where possible.
Travellers moving from Kano towards Gombe were also urged to take necessary precautions because of the condition of the road.
YOSEMA asked road users to prioritise their safety while awaiting further information on alternative routes and efforts to address the damage.
The agency said additional updates would be provided as intervention measures progress.
