A US-based advocacy firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, has alleged that the American government rejected efforts by President Bola Tinubu to secure a meeting with US President Donald Trump ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.

The firm claimed that Tinubu had planned to attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York partly to meet Trump and seek his backing for the 2027 election.

In a post on its verified X account, the organisation alleged that the proposed engagement was turned down by the US government and that any anticipated endorsement from Trump would no longer take place.
The firm also claimed that efforts to arrange a White House meeting between the two presidents had failed. It further alleged that about $9 million in public funds had been spent on the reported effort.
