2027: Wike Predicts Bigger ‘Rainbow Coalition’ for Tinubu, Speaks on Adeleke’s Visit

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said more politicians from across different parties will soon join what he described as a growing “rainbow coalition” backing President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Wike spoke in Abuja while responding to questions from journalists during an inspection of ongoing projects in the Federal Capital Territory.

The minister also commented on the recent visit of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, saying the meeting was part of the wider political realignments taking place ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to Wike, the political movement supporting Tinubu is expected to expand in the coming weeks as more political figures and groups reassess their positions ahead of the election.

He argued that the internal disputes affecting major opposition parties had weakened their ability to mount a strong challenge against the President in 2027.

Wike said the development had created room for politicians from different political platforms to work together in support of Tinubu, describing the emerging alliance as a national coalition cutting across party lines.

The FCT minister also addressed Adeleke’s political position, noting that the Osun governor had contested his recent re-election under the Accord Party because of the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party.

Despite this, Wike said Adeleke remained connected to the PDP and was now part of the political movement supporting Tinubu ahead of the next presidential election.

He said the governor’s visit should therefore be viewed within the context of the political engagements and realignments currently taking place across the country.

Wike maintained that the opposition had been weakened by prolonged internal crises, making it difficult for its major political figures to build a united platform capable of defeating Tinubu.

He referred to opposition figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, saying the emerging political developments would continue to unsettle their camps.

The minister expressed confidence that more political realignments would take place before the 2027 election, with politicians from different parties expected to join the coalition backing Tinubu.

Wike said the coming weeks would provide clearer evidence of the political movement taking shape across the country, insisting that the President currently enjoys a strong advantage going into the 2027 contest.

He also maintained that the internal disagreements within opposition parties had left them without a sufficiently coordinated structure to present a formidable challenge to the ruling party.

The minister’s comments came shortly after Adeleke visited him in Abuja following his victory in the August 15 Osun State governorship election.

Adeleke was re-elected after defeating the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in the poll and subsequently visited Tinubu at the Presidential Villa before meeting with Wike.

Wike’s comments suggest that the political realignments ahead of 2027 may extend beyond traditional party boundaries, with governors, former political office holders and other influential figures expected to take new positions as the election approaches.
