The Delta State Government has suspended the Commissioner for Works (Highway and Urban Roads), Reuben Izeze, indefinitely following allegations that he was involved in the assault of the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Protocol, Simon Mudi, popularly known as Temple.

The suspension was announced on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government, Kingsley Emu, in a statement issued on behalf of the state government.

According to the government, the suspension took effect immediately and will remain in place while security agencies investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.

The government said the decision was necessary to allow the investigation to proceed without interference and to ensure that the commissioner’s position does not affect the process.
The alleged confrontation reportedly occurred at the Petroleum Training Institute in Effurun, Delta State, involving Izeze and Mudi.
Details of what led to the confrontation and the events surrounding the alleged assault have not been fully disclosed by the government.

Security agencies are expected to question individuals connected to the incident and establish the circumstances that led to the reported confrontation.

Izeze is also a member of the Delta State House of Assembly, representing Ughelli South Constituency. Governor Oborevwori appointed him as Commissioner for Works (Highway and Urban Roads).
The government has not stated how long the investigation will last or whether Izeze will return to office after its conclusion.
It also remains unclear whether additional disciplinary measures will be taken depending on the outcome of the investigation.
The suspension is an administrative step taken to facilitate the investigation and does not amount to a finding of guilt against the commissioner.
