Suspected armed bandits have abducted the Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Hon. Nura Umar Bungudu, during an attack that also claimed the lives of two security operatives.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday when the armed men reportedly invaded Bungudu town and headed straight to the council chairman’s residence located in the Zango area.

According to information obtained from a family member who requested anonymity, the attackers overpowered the security personnel stationed at the residence before carrying out the abduction.
The source disclosed that two members of the security team, comprising police officers and vigilantes, were killed during the attack.
After the assault, the gunmen reportedly took away the council chairman along with some members of his family before fleeing the area to an unknown destination.
The attack has added to growing security concerns in Zamfara State, where repeated incidents involving armed bandits have continued to threaten lives and property in many communities.
Security agencies are yet to issue an official statement on the incident, while efforts to rescue the victims are expected to commence.
