The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed reports claiming that the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, is under investigation over alleged visa fraud.

The anti-graft agency said the reports linking the Immigration Comptroller-General to the ongoing investigation were false and clarified that she is not being investigated in connection with the alleged visa racketeering.

The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale.

According to the commission, its investigation is focused on some officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service who are alleged to have been involved in fraudulent visa activities.

The EFCC disclosed that criminal cases involving some immigration officers are already before the Federal High Court as part of the ongoing legal process.
The commission also revealed that investigations are still continuing and may lead to the prosecution of more Nigeria Immigration Service officers if additional evidence is obtained during the probe.
It maintained that the ongoing investigation has no connection with the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service.
The EFCC further advised media organisations to verify information relating to its investigations before publishing reports. It said seeking clarification from the commission would help prevent the publication of inaccurate information and ensure proper reporting of its activities.
