The party said the upload process began on Saturday and is progressing without major issues. According to its National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, many candidates had already been uploaded as of Monday morning. At the same time, work continues to ensure all entries are completed before the deadline set by the electoral commission.

Although the party confirmed that the exercise is ongoing, it did not reveal the identities of the candidates or the states whose details have already been submitted through the INEC nomination portal.

Asogwa explained that the technical challenges experienced by some political parties during the submission of presidential and National Assembly candidates in the past were mainly linked to differences between party records and information on the INEC portal.

He noted that the issue was not unique to the Labour Party, as several political parties encountered similar difficulties while trying to align candidates’ names and other details with the commission’s database.

INEC had earlier released the timetable for political parties to submit their candidates’ particulars ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Labour Party said it remains committed to meeting all the commission’s requirements and completing the upload of its governorship and State House of Assembly candidates across the country within the approved timeline.
