Five Killed as Suspected Turji’s Bandits Raid Sokoto Community

At least five people have been reported dead after suspected bandits believed to be loyal to notorious bandit leader Bello Turji attacked Lajinge community in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The attack reportedly took place on Tuesday night, leaving several residents injured and many families in distress.

The incident was made public on Wednesday by conflict reporter Bakatsine in a post shared on his X account.

According to the report, the armed attackers stormed the community and opened their assault, killing five residents during the invasion.

Eight other people reportedly sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

The attackers were also said to have abducted several women during the raid, although the exact number of those taken away has not yet been confirmed.

Besides the killings and kidnappings, the gunmen allegedly made away with a large number of livestock and other valuable items belonging to residents before escaping from the community.

The whereabouts of the abducted women remain unknown, raising fears among residents who are worried about their safety and the possibility of more attacks.

Bakatsine noted that repeated attacks allegedly linked to Bello Turji and his fighters have continued to leave many communities in the area living in fear, forcing residents to flee their homes while causing repeated loss of lives and property.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had not officially confirmed the attack or released any statement regarding the incident.
