The Dangote Group has announced plans to invest about ₦3 trillion in the construction and rehabilitation of 12 roads across Nigeria under the Federal Government’s Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme.

President and Chief Executive Officer of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, disclosed this while reaffirming the company’s commitment to increasing private sector investment in key infrastructure projects across the country.

Dangote made the announcement during the official launch of the rehabilitation of the Bama–Banki and Dikwa–Gamboru Ngala roads in Borno State by President Bola Tinubu. The roads are expected to improve security, restore economic activities and reconnect communities affected by years of insurgency.

The two projects were awarded to Dangote Industries Nigeria Limited under the Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme, while Dantata & Sawoe Nigeria Limited is handling the work as a subcontractor.
A statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Works, Mohammed Ahmed, said Dangote described the Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme as an effective way of funding major infrastructure projects through private sector participation.
He said the initiative has created opportunities for businesses to contribute directly to national development by supporting the delivery of essential infrastructure.
According to Dangote, quality roads and bridges play a major role in boosting economic activities, attracting investments and improving the country’s overall development.
He added that the company is prepared to take on more infrastructure projects in different parts of Nigeria.
Dangote also praised the Minister of Works, David Umahi, for his commitment to delivering infrastructure projects across the country.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, President Tinubu said the rehabilitation of the Bama–Banki and Dikwa–Gamboru Ngala roads is vital because the routes are important to improving security, rebuilding infrastructure and creating more economic opportunities in the North-East.
The President stated that the projects reflect his administration’s commitment to restoring critical infrastructure that will improve transportation, strengthen regional cooperation and support long-term development.

He noted that the roads would improve access to neighbouring Cameroon and the Republic of Chad, creating fresh opportunities for trans-Saharan trade and cross-border business activities.
Tinubu added that the projects would make it easier to move people, goods and services while improving security and supporting the recovery of communities affected by insurgency.
He also urged all stakeholders to work closely with host communities to ensure the projects are completed successfully.
The President assured Nigerians that his administration would continue investing in infrastructure capable of driving economic growth and national development.
Minister of Works David Umahi described the commencement of the projects as another step in the Federal Government’s infrastructure renewal programme.
According to him, the roads form part of the administration’s four major legacy infrastructure projects spread across the country’s six geopolitical zones to improve connectivity, shorten travel time, promote trade and strengthen economic ties with neighbouring countries.
Minister of State for Works Bello Goronyo said the projects would improve economic activities, security, healthcare services and tourism across the region.
He added that the roads are strategic investments that will improve living conditions and support regional integration.
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Works, Allwell Onyesoh, and the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Works, Akin Alabi, also welcomed the projects, describing them as another example of the strong partnership between the National Assembly and the Ministry of Works in delivering infrastructure across Nigeria.
Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum said the rehabilitation of the roads would speed up the economic recovery of the North-East by improving trade with Cameroon and Chad while promoting peace, security and commercial activities in the region.
Speaking on behalf of the Borno State Council of Traditional Rulers, the Shehu of Dikwa, representing the Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, expressed support for the projects and pledged the cooperation of traditional institutions to ensure their successful completion.
