Mohammed urged traditional rulers, community leaders, religious figures and divisional police officers not to recommend anyone with a criminal record for recruitment.

He said the police were strengthening screening measures to prevent criminal elements from entering the force.

The DIG recalled that while serving in the North-East, he witnessed the rehabilitation of former Boko Haram members under the Federal Government’s deradicalisation programme.

He added that many communities were unwilling to accept their return and insisted security agencies must remain cautious.

He also announced plans to launch joint border patrols across Kwara’s boundaries with neighbouring states and the Republic of Benin.

Mohammed said community policing, youth engagement and timely intelligence sharing would remain key tools in tackling crime.
