Doctors Halt Work At OOUTH Over Unpaid Allowance

Resident doctors at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, have begun a 10-day warning strike over unpaid revised allowances, delayed training funds and worsening welfare conditions.

The action followed a decision reached during the association’s quarterly meeting.

The doctors said the Ogun State Government had yet to implement the revised Professional and Specialist Allowances or settle outstanding arrears despite earlier demands.

They also raised concerns over delays in releasing the 2026 Medical Residency Training Fund.

The association blamed severe manpower shortages, poor accommodation, inadequate call meals and rising security issues within the hospital for worsening working conditions.

Members said the situation had increased workload and affected their wellbeing.

The doctors are demanding immediate payment of the training fund, inclusion of the revised allowances in July salaries and better security and welfare facilities.

They also warned that any member who ignores the strike directive would face a N50,000 sanction.
